A Letter
Hi, Jane!
How are you? I’m sorry it took me so long to write. I’ve been to Cairo,
in Egypt. It was great but I can’t forget my trip to London.
The first time I went abroad was when I went to London. It was in the summer holidays about five years ago and
I went with my friend. The plane and train were quite expensive, so we decided to travel by coach. We left at five o’clock in the morning and the
journey took us about sixteen hours (but we didn’t mind). We were very excited
because it was our first time away from home.
We stayed in London for three days, in a hotel (youth hostel) not far from the center. While we were there we walked a lot. First we went to see all the famous sites – Big Ben, Piccadilly Circus, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey. Most of all I was impressed by the beauty of ______. It is _____. We
went shopping in Oxford Street. I took a lot of photos and bought some souvenirs for my parents and
friends. It was fantastic!
I’ve been back to London several times since then, but I don’t think I’ll ever feel as excited as I did that
first time.
